The U.S. Government Department of Health, Education, and Welfare Public Health Services says, “A septic tank system will serve a home satisfactorily only if it is properly maintained. Even a good system, which does not have proper care and attention, may become a nuisance. Maintenance is the key to avoiding expensive repairs. Septic system maintenance is important."
PROBLEMS
Unnecessary usage of water such as a leaking sinks and or toilets can saturate a taxed leach field causing additional problems.
You may be experiencing a septic problem if you notice some of the following:
Slow or sluggish drains
Plumbing begins to back up
Gurgling sounds coming from drains in your business
Odors inside or outside your business
Noticing wet areas on or around your septic system
HOW OFTEN SHOULD SEPTIC TANK PUMPING OUT OCCUR?
The sludge and scum that accumulates in the septic tank must be pumped out periodically. How frequently depends on the size of the tank, the use it gets, and the condition of the system. We recommend that every three years a system be inspected and undergo septic tank pumping.
When a system is serviced, all materials are removed and disposed of properly. During servicing baffles are inspected for blockages and tank conditions are checked. All information along with recommendations will be provided after servicing.
ADDITIVES & TREATMENTS
Customers often ask if there are additives that you can put into the tank that will deal with the solids. Removal of all solids through septic tank pumping is the only way to ensure protection of your drain field. If not pumped out, solids will eventually overflow into the drain field and clog your system.
